At the 2018 Annual Presentation Dinner, we were delighted to welcome Trevor Clay as the Society's new Captain in succession to Eddie Faulkner. Trevor's chosen charity is Framework (www.frameworkha.org). It's a local charity that works in both Nottinghamshire and Derbyshire delivering housing, health, employment, support and care services to people with a diverse range of needs - it has Christian origins.
Retiring Captain Eddie's 2018 Captain's Charity collection was in aid of the Derbyshire, Leicestershire and Rutland Air Ambulance The magnificent total for the year was £687.87 from Eddie's collection tins, our donation to the speaker at our annual dinner, and the raffle.
Our programme of 4 events was very well supported and we were blessed with good weather on all occasions. Details are on our Fixtures page.

Changes to the CONGU Unified Handicapping System (UHS) came into
effect on the 1st January 2018. The most significant changes are:
The retirement of “Club Handicaps”, which is replaced by a new Category 5 (28.5 to 36.4) for Men and Category 6 (36.5 to 54.0) for both Men and Women, providing for a maximum handicap of 54.0 for all golfers.
Rules for Supplementary Scores have been relaxed to allow an unlimited number of score submissions per year and removal of the restriction of one per week. However, the restriction on Category 1 players remains.
A couple of explanatory documents from CONGU are here and here (FAQ).

A private family burial too place in Darley Dale followed by a Thanksgiving Service at Dale Road Methodist Church, on Tuesday 26th September. The society was extremely well represented at the service reflecting the high esteem in which David was held.
Our past Chairman has given us a few thoughts on "Shalom". He produced various "thoughts" throughout the 2011 season about the Christian message and in particular relating to the Gospel of St. John. You can read more on our "About" page.
Was held on Thursday 1st November, again at Bakewell Golf Club. An excellent evening with Bakewell's usual exceptional quality food and our informative speaker, Richard, from Air Ambulance. Captain Eddie's prize went to Robin Baldry.
Congratulations to Terry Hooley, our 2018 Knock-out Champion.
